Dr. Tsuguhisa Ehara, Professor Emeritus of Saga University, has moved to Nagasaki International University in April, 2009, as professor of Physiology in the Faculty of Phamaceutical Sciences.

Basic cardiac electrophysiology is the main subject of our research. Using the patch clamp method as principal experimental technique, we are trying to analyze, on the cellular and molecular level, the properties, physiological roles, and regulatory mechanisms of the ion channels and ion transporters located on the cardiac cell membrane. The employment of molecular biology-based technology facilitates some of our researches on the gene level. In educational work, we are responsible for the lecture and practice of physiology (vegetable functions) to be given to under- and post-graduates.
